A mobile network booster is a device that can strengthen the weak signal reception of an area. There are mainly three components in a signal booster such as an outside antenna, amplifier and inside antenna. Outside antenna or the outdoor antenna is the component in a signal booster system that is responsible to capture the weak signal from the surroundings. There are mainly two types of outside antenna such as omnidirectional and unidirectional. The difference and benefits of those antennas are as follows.
It is a cylindrical shaped antenna that can capture signals from a 360 degree field. If it is fixed on a spot where the cellular reception is comparatively better, it will guarantee the improvement of the signal of a specific area. This device is suitable for those places where the signal reception is low but not less than -90 dBs, because it is not built to procure signals from a long distance. These types of antennas are mainly used in places where the internal interference is more and also in buildings where the number of users is high. Most of the omnidirectional outside antenna is able to procure signals of all the available carriers for the better multiuser experience.
This type of antenna can be again divided into two categories such as Yagi antennas and Log antennas. The distinct features of those antennas are as follows.
It is one of the popular models of the outside antenna. Even though it is having the capacity to capture signals from a longer distance, it can only cover a maximum of 90 degree field area. However, if the Yagi antenna is placed in the direction of the cell tower, it will procure more signals than omnidirectional antennas.
It is a powerful version of the Yagi antenna because it is also designed to capture signals from a single direction. The main difference between a Log and Yagi Antenna is that the former will be having minimum ten times the field radius than the latter. This component is mainly helpful in places where the distance between the cell tower and the building is very long.
All the types of antennas have their own features and advantages and each of them is designed to satisfy the specific needs of the users. Therefore, if you are planning to install a signal booster, choose the antenna that can satisfy your requirements.
