Signal boosters are playing the role of a supporting column in today’s digital age, where people always want to be connected. But the day’s where merely being connected is way behind us. Everything is quick and nobody wants to wait. People and businesses hinge on to the speed of connectivity, which is essentially an edge over your rivals. It could be as simple as a strong signal connection at work that would make or break a sale on-call. If you’re planning on getting a signal booster for work, we will tell you the things to look out for!
What Is A Signal Booster?
A Signal booster is simply a device that makes sure you’re always hooked to the grid! A signal booster, as the name suggests boosts or gains your phone signals. But to think of it, why do we end up needing it? Interference! There are obstructions all around us. Obstructions could be in any shape or form! It could be a hill or even the tree outside your office window.
What happens is that the phone loses sight of the nearest cell tower, causing your important business call to drop in the most crucial second! Now, you wouldn’t want that, would you?
How Do These Work?
In layman’s term it is quite easy to understand. Cell signal boosters consist of 3 main components which are the external antenna, amplifier and an internal antenna. The external or outer antenna catches these low strength signals from the tower, passing it on to the amplifier. The amplifier amplifies the signal, which is then broadcasted by the internal antenna to be used for any or all nearby cellular devices to use. These are network specific from GSM, 2G, 3G, 4G or LTE. Word has been coming about 5G, but we can only wait and hope.
What Should I Keep In Mind While Buying One For Work?
Is your work space, large or small?
The signal booster kit you will need differs if it’s for a small work space having two rooms, or a large stadium, office building or malls having a floor space more than 50,000 square feet that would have many people connected at the same time.
Are you in a rush? What’s your budget? How many people will be connecting?
If you are in a hurry and if the area is relatively small, then cell type cellular booster will do. This could be installed in well within a day or a week depending on the size of your building. If it is for a much larger space and more bandwidth, an Active DAS would be a better choice! But keep in mind that the installation and approval could take well than a year. If the numbers of employees are plenty then this is your choice. The cost would be under $10 for Femto cell boosters, while the Active DAS could cost more than a hundred thousand easy.
